Small Town U.S.A. Car Shows
Pocatello, Idaho is a small town. Even though it is a college town, housing the Idaho State University main campus, it is still very much qualifies as a small town. With the college campus there as well as a major junction of I-15 and Hwy 86 towards Boise it kind of is the defact-o center for that portion of Idaho. ISU has an automotive technologies program and the most obvious way for them to raise money for scholarships is to host a car show.
Enter ‘Chrome in the Dome’
Holt Arena functions as the local event center as well as the home to the ISU basketball team and because of its shape being a giant single arch or ‘dome’ we get the tame of this show. This car show is a traditional indoors car show. Booths around the outside of the arena selling t-shirts to detailing products and the obligatory recruiting stop for at least one branch of the military. Even though I’m an Idaho Boy with a high school diploma from Idaho, my first driver’s license was issued by the State of Idaho, and I’ve even had a conceal carry permit from Idaho I have never been to this show before. Now that I live just up the road from Pocatello in Idaho Falls, Idaho I figured I’d hit this event and see it for myself.
Have a look at some of the stuff the show had to offer
At the end of the day this was a fun outing with my kids and my beautiful wife.yes, I think I’d go again to this event, not because it was a really outstanding show but because it was a good show with a great purpose and it was family friendly.
